Ménétrier’s Diathesis
The so-called diathesis in oligotherapy was developed by Ménétrier who identified four types of miasms, called diathesis, each characterized by a susceptibility to disease and with psychological and intellectuals characteristics specific to each individual. The term comes from classical medicine and diathesis means: susceptibility to a specific pathological condition (disease).
These predispositions or diathesis are related to hormonal imbalances due to poor adaptation to stress and affect in particular the genital-pituitary and the pituitary-pancreatic axis.
He identified four types and defined them as follows:
- allergic or arthritis diathesis associated with the Element Manganese
- ipostenica or arthro-tubercular diathesis associated with Manganese Copper
- dystonic or neuro-arthritic diathesis associated with Manganese Cobalt
- anergic diathesis associated with Copper Gold Silver.
Maladjustment syndrome can also affect all of the above categories with either of its two expressions of alteration genital-pituitary axis associated with Zinc Copper or Pancreatic-pituitary axis associated with Zinc Nickel Cobalt.
