Yerba mate: weight loss supplement

Ilex paraguensis, better known as yerba mate, has many health benefits for our body. Yerba mate aids weight loss and sculpts our silhouette through its anti-cellulite, diuretic and naturally laxative effects. Yeba mate also helps to lower “bad” cholesterol levels and to fight allergies amongst its many other benefits.
Ilex paraguensis, or mate, is a plant that comes from the Amazon. The composition of the leaves of yerba mate includes a mixture of xanthines such as high-dosage caffeine, theobromine and theophylline, caffeyol derivatives, quercitine, vitamins and amino acids.
Ilex paraguensis, or mate, contains theophylline and flavonoids, both of which have diuretic properties, and can therefore help to eliminate excess fluid in the body.
Yerba mate is a good slimming aid as it can raise basal metabolism thus increasing calorific expenditure and working as an appetite suppressant.
The xanthines that are present in the mate leaves stimulate peristaltic activity in the intestine, acting as a natural laxative.
Tones the muscles and improves concentration
Yerba mate is rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium and zinc and in vitamin C, vitamin E and B-complex vitamins.
Xanthines such as caffeine, theobromine and theophylline work together with the B-complex vitamins to tone the striated muscles and increase concentration by acting upon the brain.
Regulates cholesterol
Yerba mate regulates cholesterol. The caffeyol that is found in mate has antioxidant properties.
The active compound caffeyol inhibits cholesterol oxidation and maintains HDL levels (“good” cholesterol) and reduces LDL levels (“bad” cholesterol)
Tackles allergic symptoms
Yerba mate contains quercitin, which can help to alleviate bothersome allergic symptoms.
Quercitin is a natural antihistamine that acts by preventing mast cell degranulation and reducing the release of histamine.
