In recent years we have seen in Italy , as in other European countries , with a wide spread of those that are mistakenly referred to as “alternative medicine ” , and for a fashion spread for both, a continuous and constant critique of “official medicine .”

Such criticism is carried out mainly by that class of individuals who expect a greater involvement by the medical establishment to their problems : patients have become more and more demanding with respect to a medicine that is increasingly open to the public and especially allowed through its constant and continuous therapeutic advances in technology, a psycho- physical well-being of a population increasingly large . This progress in the last thirty years through a  more complete hyper- technological innovation, has decreased the ratio of humanisation between therapist and patient, in fact more and more doctors are interested in a specific part of our body and the construction of increasingly sophisticated diagnostic machines , the  CT or the N.M.R. , subtracted them from this report . That has allowed the medicine to be interested only in a small part of our being : the physical body .

A large part of the population, therefore, turned to a different approach of medicine, which was more comprehensive, holistic , or comprehensive understanding of the functioning of our body . Looking at the whole issue of physical body as part of a complex system of mind-body interactions , we reach a more comprehensive goal of the disease.

Belong of this group all those therapeutic techniques that culturally and philosophically have an understanding of the origin of the organism and its pathological processes not only based on a mathematical procedure ( = bacterial infection disease ), but mainly from a lack of motivation of organic response ( = ease fragile constitution to bacterial disease = ) . These techniques are part both of the great oriental culture  (acupuncture , shiatsu , reiki, Ayurvedic … ) both  of western culture that has developed over the centuries a philosophical view of man far from simple mechanistic enlightenment (Kant … ) and more open to a vision of global medical approach ( Paracelsus, Hahnemann , Goethe, Steiner … ) .

If the medicine is understood as a complex of attitudes and studies designed to knowledge and understanding of the pathogenic mechanisms of the disease and as an Art of the care and healing, every therapeutic technique that aims at understanding must be accepted and developed. There are , therefore, more Medicine (official, alternative, … ), but one and the same science apt to learn and study all the mechanisms that lead to disease and consequently to a treatment or a cure.

Homeopathy , should not be understood as something foreign to these mechanisms or a technique that estranged  doctor from a correct view of the disease and therapy : it allows us to understand the complicated gear of the disease is not only tied to a purely quantitative, but essentially qualitative . If the doctor and the patient are looking for the understanding of the mechanism that led to the disease , Homeopathy responds to them, not just the superficial search for a pathogenesis or the elimination of a symptom, but the global knowledge of man from his physical body to get to the understanding of his mind.

The disease is understood by a homeopath as a signal, a warning that it is launching that body is no longer able to maintain the balance between the inner and outer worlds, between sleeping and waking, between concentration and relaxation, that is, between the various oppositions that coexist in the human being. So we become ill when no longer able to balance these extremes, when we do not keep more than a balance between things, when the disease is our inability to read these oppositions in ourselves, so that they can all play a role. To this we associate the meaning of health understood as harmony, as a balance, such as “teacher of life”.

Upsetting the balance established disease : it turns your doctor looking for the explanation even in the continuous involvement of the patient. In front of a tonsillitis do not try to solve the problem allows choosing the simplest solution and farthest from the full resolution with the implementation of an antibiotic, the scheme is as follows: the patient is sick, he is not responsible , it’s me , the doctor , to drive him to this impasse. So the omnipotence of the doctor and all its consequences : aggressive treatment, drug enforcement , dehumanisation , misunderstanding … So in the face of tonsillitis in question we will go in search of the causes which led the body to yield to external aggression : the bacterium is no longer the original cause of the disease and fundamental , but only the trigger. The symptom definable , quantifiable , reproducible, is to be studied and cataloged : the patient ends up to be moulded in this vision, he becomes only a simple or complex clinical case. Homeopathy is concerned with the body as a whole and  the symptom becomes, therefore , a signal for the homeopath , an alarm raised by an organic , vital, in the throes of a disharmony. The causes of the illness are  based on a typology (study of classification of a subject on a dynamic basis ) well-defined , on a constitutional ( static moment of classification, pigeonholing of different types within homogeneous groups that can be studied as such) very specific on a diathesis (a set of symptoms present in a community in their personal spending and hereditary variability and their future in the absence of specific treatments .

“Such symptomatology is, in turn, similar to the pathology of some of the great remedies and accordingly, the latter, by virtue of analogical reasoning, become homeo-specific of these diathesis”-M.Tetau-) well formed, on a morphological behaviour-functional pre-established.

The homeopathic medicine becomes , therefore, a means and not an absolute resolution.  The patient open a door to a new harmonisation , a new balance of his whole being . When Hahnemann defined the basic concepts of homeopathy , had them on the basis of empirical studies on certain reactions of substances which if taken by a healthy body unleashed the same symptoms of a specific disease : had been laid the cornerstone of homeopathy , healing the disease with its similar . He began a feverish and fertile period that led to the testing of many substances drawn from the  mineral , vegetable and animal kingdom on healthy people . The descriptions of these various symptoms were recorded in a capillary so as to grasp similarities with known diseases . The science of similitude , already advocated by Hippocrates , back in the Hellenic world , with his ” similibus curantur the like ,” was just starting .

That’s why for the homeopath every ill is a case in itself: you should not treat the disease, but the body sick, as it was able to verify that different substances could be used in the same disease, as the symptoms appeared, despite the permanence predominant symptoms, secondary symptoms that made it different, you understand how any human being sick responded with a variety of symptoms very different from another sick with the same disease.

To discover the multitude of symptoms and their variety in a particular disease process takes over from the doctor a detailed and careful examination, which may lead to a careful explanation and understanding of the entire symptomatology described by the patient. The interest of his problems and the outbreak of the disease leads the patient looking for a careful listening on the part of the therapist, that ‘ “listening” that has been lost by a hyper medicine , interested only in the understanding of mechanical mechanisms . The search continues and relentless a large balance and a total knowledge of our microcosm , place the light of a vision of cosmic space outside, leads , and always will lead each of us to contact , through the good therapist , and author of intermediary this connection , our inner world. No longer exist, in this case, different approaches, but a single and indivisible  MEDICAL  ART with all its means to that knowledge.
