Botanical origin: Hamamelidaceae: Hamamelis virginiana.

Common name: Amamelide or American Witch Hazel (the plant was used for making divining rods).

Habitat: North America.

Analog/symbolic representation: It is an “arrhythmic” plant that does not follow the expansion of summer rhythms and winter contraction: the flowers bloom in winter in opposition to the vital rhythms of the earth. “When a process in the human being strongly shifts away from rhythmic bodily processes, a remedy based on witch hazel will absorb these processes.”

Known constituents: Tannins, Flavonoids.

Homeopathic therapeutic properties: astringent, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic vasoconstrictor.

Internal use: In diseases of venous insufficiency and in hemorrhoidal disease, even topically.

Homeopathic therapeutic properties: Venous congestion, bruising, varicose veins, passive bleeding of black blood that clots with difficulty.

Clinic: Bruising, ecchymosis, epistaxis, hematemesis, hematuria, hemophilia, passive bleeding of black blood, extra bleeding of menstruation, hemorrhoids, orchitis, phlebitis, wounds, purpura, traumas and their consequences, varicose ulcers, varicose veins, varicose veins. After a blow or a fall: it stops bleeding, it reduces pain and sensitivity to touch, promotes resorption of bruising.

Aggravation: Hot and humid air, by touch.

Improvement: Rest.
