El tema del microbioma es tan importante que en los EE.UU. el NHS está llevando a cabo un proyecto con un presupuesto total de 115 millones de dólares, cuyo objetivo es identificar y caracterizar los microorganismos y su relación con el estado de salud y enfermedad en un hombre. Por lo tanto, es necesario tener en cuenta la importancia sustancial de la copresencia de la microbiota en nuestro cuerpo y evaluar el dinamismo plástico del microbioma, que puede transformar su expresión génica en relación con los factores ambientales tales como el tipo de dieta y tener de consecuencia un impacto sobre el estado de salud. Se observó que individuos de una misma familia tienen similitud de las clases y especies de bacterias intestinales que pueden cambiar en función de las interacciones con el huésped y el medio ambiente. En un individuo de peso normal se reconocen tres tipos principales de bacterias: Firmicutes, Actinobacteria y bacteroidetes. La microbiota puede afectar el equilibrio metabólico y nutricional y la modulación del organismo modulando la capacidad del cuerpo para extraer energía de los alimentos de la dieta e interactuando con el metabolismo de la glucosa y de los lípidos. Los metabolitos liberados por la fermentación de polisacáridos complejos en la dieta pueden aumentar la captación de glucosa, estimular la lipogénesis, cambiar la composición de ácidos grasos del tejido adiposo y del hígado, alterar la permeabilidad de la barrera de la mucosa intestinal y la respuesta inmunitaria, contribuir en un estado de inflamación sistémica crónica y en el estado de insulina-resistencia relacionada con la obesidad. Sólo a través de la tipificación completa de las especies bacterianas que colonizan el tracto gastro-entérico y el conocimiento de sus funciones fisiopatológicos será posible definir con mayor precisión un aspecto patogénico significativo de la obesidad y del síndrome metabólico para luego preparar remedios terapéuticos dirigidos.

Human Microbiome Project

The topic of the microbiome is so important that in the US the NHS is carrying out a project with a total budget of 115 million dollars, which aims to identify and characterize the micro-organisms and their relationship with the state of health and disease of man.

It is therefore necessary to consider the substantial importance of the co-presence of microbiota in our body and evaluate the plastic dynamism of microbiome, that can transform their gene expression in relation to environmental factors such as the type of diet and impact on health status.

It has been observed that individuals from the same family have similarity in intestinal bacterial species and families that may change depending on interactions with the host and the environment. In the normal-weight individual, three main types of bacteria are recognized: Firmicutes, Actinobacteria and Bacteroidetes.

Microbiota can affect the nutritional and metabolic balance of the body by modulating the ability to extract energy from the foods of one’s diet and interact with the glucose and lipid metabolism. The metabolites released by the fermentation of complex dietary polysaccharides can increase the absorption of glucose, stimulate lipogenesis, change the fatty acid composition of adipose tissue and the liver, alter the permeability of the intestinal mucosal barrier, altering the immune response, contribute to a state of systemic chronic inflammation and the state of insulin resistance related to obesity.

 

Only through complete typification of bacterial species that colonize the gastrointestinal tract and the knowledge of their pathophysiologic functions will be possible to more accurately define a significant pathogenetic aspect of obesity and metabolic syndrome and prepare targeted therapeutic remedies.

Progetto Microbioma Umano

L’argomento del microbioma è così rilevante che negli USA il NHS sta realizzando un progetto con un budget complessivo di 115 milioni di dollari, che ha il fine di identificare e caratterizzare i microrganismi ed il loro rapporto con lo stato di salute e di malattia dell’uomo.

Occorre considerare quindi la sostanziale importanza della compresenza nel nostro organismo del microbiota e valutare la dinamicità plastica del microbioma, in grado di trasformare la propria espressione genica in relazione a fattori ambientali quali il tipo di dieta e impattare sullo stato di salute.

È stato osservato che individui di una stessa famiglia presentano similitudine  di classi e specie batteriche intestinali che può modificarsi in base alle interazioni con l’ospite e con l’ambiente. Nell’individuo normopeso si riconoscono tre tipi  batterici principali: Firmicutes, Actinobacteria e Bacteroidetes.

ll microbiota può incidere  sull’equilibrio nutrizionale e metabolico dell’organismo modulando la capacità di estrarre energia dagli alimenti della dieta e interagendo con il metabolismo glico-lipidico. I metaboliti rilasciati dalla fermentazione di polisaccaridi complessi della dieta possono aumentare l’assorbimento di glucosio, stimolare la lipogenesi, modificare la composizione in acidi grassi del tessuto adiposo e del fegato, alterare la permeabilità della barriera mucosa intestinale, alterare la risposta immunitaria, contribuire ad uno stato di infiammazione cronica sistemica e allo stato di insulinoresistenza correlato all’obesità.

Solo attraverso la completa tipizzazione delle specie batteriche che colonizzano il tratto gastro-enterico e la conoscenza delle loro funzioni fisiopatologiche sarà possibile definire più accuratamente un aspetto patogenetico significativo dell’obesità e della sindrome metabolica e approntare rimedi terapeutici mirati.
