Epigenetics is a branch of genetics that shows how the behavior of living beings promotes or inhibits genetic predisposition. It studies molecular mechanisms that alter the level of gene activity without changing their information, i.e., without modifying the DNA sequences.
Our parents, through the union of sperm and an egg, allow for the formation of an embryo which will then give rise to a future being. Thus the genetic code of a child is characterized by the genetic heritage he has inherited from his parents, but the expression of these genes, i.e., the behavior of these genes is affected by the environment in which the child and then adult lives, as well as by his childhood relationships with his parents and then with other human beings, as well as his lifestyle. The interaction of the individual with the environment determines the phenotype.
While genotype is determined by the genes transmitted by parents, phenotype is the result of our interaction with the environment and therefore also determines our character, our personality, our beliefs about the world and life and consequently our illnesses.
Epigenetics acts on phenotype, i.e., the way in which genes express themselves throughout life. We have dominant genes and silent genes, the latter may become less latent and turn dominant after a vaccination that subjects the immune system to an unnatural stress, even alimentary stimuli produced by food as well as chemical drugs may cause epigenetic modifications.
From this point of view, the aging process is linked to:
- the hereditary biological background
- the way of mental and emotional interaction with material polar world
- additionally external causes and environmental factors.
All these factors block or activate DNA functions related to stress.
Our health and our descendants’ depend on:
- our lifestyle,
- what we eat,
- how much pampering we receive,
- what we think
Thinking is, for example, energy and information at the same time and thus, as our lifestyle, is crucial in the production of physiological imbalances that can open the door to serious illness.
Epigenetics is closely related to our predisposition towards diseases including cancer, as it regulates gene expression.
In other words epigenetics decides what gene must be ON or OFF in a single cell by determining an information cell signal.
Therefore we can state that there is a genome that we inherit and an epigenome with its changeability of plasticity that we create and transmit to future generations.
